I had been playing around with the idea of getting eyelash extensions for awhile now. My esthetician, who I have been going to for the last 5 years, has been telling me I need them. I see so many crazy looking eyelash extensions on people that I was super nervous to even bother. But Jen, my esthetician, has never steered my wrong and has always done great work! So, I finally gave in and got them, and I couldn’t love them more!! She was right, I did need them-haha!
For starters they give my day to day look a little upgrade. I love not having to worry bout anything eyes but still looking pulled together and like I put a little effort putting myself together. Even if I’m rocking a mom bun on the daily. Haha. When I’m headed out or really getting ready I love not having to worry about fussing with a strip of lashes.
Things to think about before you go.
Do you want curly or straight lashes? Depending on your facial features one might be better than the other for you. Or, like me, you could just prefer the curlier look. Haha.
How long do you want your lashes? Length of the lashes varies greatly. For this, I would think about what kind of look you’re going for. If you’re going for a natural look then I would choose shorter lashes and if you’re going for a dramatic look I would go for longer lashes.
Lastly, I would decide if you want volume lashes or classic lashes. Volume lashes give your eyelashes a softer and fluffier look. Classic lashes are single lash on a single lash application and will give your lashes more of a distinct and defined look.
To get a full set put on it will take 2-3 hours. The time will depend on the type of lashes and desired final look. Fills typically only take 1 hour.
How long do the eyelashes last?
This answer varies on the person but you can expect them to last about 3 weeks before you need a fill. The lashes are applied to each of your individual lashes so as those fall out naturally so will the fake lashes. How you sleep, whether or not you use mascara, how often you clean and many other factors can all affect how long your lashes will last.
A few other little details.
Brush your eyelashes daily to keep keep tangles at bay to help with lash retention.
Yes, you can get them wet and don’t be afraid to wash them. Washing your eyelash extensions will help remove sleep debris and other things that can collect on your lashes. All of which can cause congestion of hair follicle which in turn leads to lash loss!
Yes, you can wear mascara but only use it on the tips of your eyelash extensions. And be mindful that the process of removing the mascara from your lashes will add to the wear and tear of your lashes. Possibly causing them to fall off sooner then their natural cycle.
No, they will not ruin your natural eye lashes. This is why it is so important to do your research and find a great esthetician to do your lashes. If you’re in Arizona I highly recommend Jen!
If possible, sleep on your back to keep the pressure off of your lashes. I’m the worst at this-haha!
