I did it yall- I shot my very first vlog. The truth is, I almost didn’t go through with it. I was pretty close to letting my fear of shooting a video keep me from doing a vlog. Let me give you a little background on the video and let’s talk about fear and faith. Because let’s face it, it’s the New Year and none of us should let fear keep us from accomplishing all we have set out to accomplish this year.
When Kendra, from Visison2lens, reached out to me about doing a vlog, I honestly wasn’t sure I would do it. Actually, I’m lying. I was totally unsure. I’m a creature of habit. And vlogging just wasn’t in my habits. I like to stick to what I know. It truly doesn’t leave much room for growth. But, it’s the truth. So, as you can guess, I did not want to do the video and started to tell myself a million lies about why I shouldn’t do a vlog. Lies, that I almost allowed myself to believe because I was afraid. I had a fear of failing.
Here’s the thing about fear. It’s almost and pretty much make-believe. Fear is quite literally your imagination at work. But, in a bad way. Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. If we take away the emotion of it and think about what fear really means, it’s pretty much nothing. Emotions are certainly real and have value but in this case, they’re just holding us back. We have to learn to push past the emotion fear brings up. And, pushing past fear means having faith.
What is faith then? Faith’s definition is; a complete trust or faith in someone or something. Complete trust! Those are the words that hit home for me and the words I have to hold onto! Faith isn’t about all the what if’s. Or even about having all the answers. It’s knowing that if you do your part and do the work, God will make a way and take care of the rest. Trust Him. Believe in Him. We have to stop giving into fears and choose to believe that God will take care of you.
Anway, I decided not to let fear control me and I made the vlog! I did it. And, do you want to know what the funny thing about all this is? Shooting this vlog might have been the most natural thing I’ve done in my blogging career. I loved doing it. We decided to do a sort of day in the life type vlog. If we’re home on a Saturdays they are slow and sweet. We sleep in, make waffles, play, I do a little work, and just spend time being with each other. Life is hectic. So, when we get the chance to have days like this I soak them up so hard! I literally obsessed with this vlog we made. It’s so authentic and real. Take a peek for yourself.
It’s kind of wild to think of what I would have been missing out on if I would have let fear control me. Whatever it is that you’re wanting to do in 2018, don’t let fear hold you back. Instead, have faith and conquer everything your pretty little heart desires!
Always do something you’re a little not ready for, that’s how we grow friends!
